COUNCIL MEMBERS APPLAUD STATEWIDE SMOKING BAN
City officials and local smoke-free advocates found many reasons
to rejoice when Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed a statewide smoking
ban into law Monday.
For council members, who spent the last half of 2006 and into
2007 debating whether and how to craft an appropriate smoking
ban in Naperville, it was the win-win answer they'd hoped would
come. And for Smoke-Free Naperville members, it was the day
they'd worked to see.
"This is a great day for all the kids and hospitality workers in
the entire state," Smoke-Free Naperville President Tony Andrews
said. "Now they will have the same benefit that we will have in
Naperville."
