SMOKERS BEWARE: REVENUE DEPARTMENT TO MONITOR OUT-OF-STATE SALES
The Tennessee Department of Revenue said today that its Special
Investigations Section will begin conducting surveillance of
Tennessee residents who buy cigarettes at out-of-state tobacco
retailers located near the state line.
Tennessee residents may legally possess no more than two cartons
of cigarettes without the state tax stamp.
Tennessees cigarette tax went from 20 cents per pack to 62
cents per pack, an incentive for many Tennessee residents to buy
cigarettes in neighboring states. . . .
